La historia cuenta que, hace mucho tiempo, un hombre regañó a su hija pequeña de 5 años por desperdiciar todo un rollo de papel de regalo para envolver una caja.

La niña, a pesar de la regañina, dejó la caja envuelta bajo el árbol de Navidad y a la mañana siguiente, cuando todos estaban abriendo los regalos, se la entregó a su padre diciéndole: "Esto es para ti, papi".

Él, sintió vergüenza de la reacción del día anterior y emocionado, abrió el regalo. Pero al ver que en el interior de la caja no había nada, le dijo en tono molesto a su hija: "Señorita, cuando se hace un regalo siempre tiene que haber algo dentro".

La pequeña, medio llorando le dijo: "Pero papi, no está vacía, la llené de besos para ti".

El padre, conmovido, abrazó a su hija y le pidió perdón.

Con el tiempo, la niña creció y se fue a vivir muy lejos. Su padre, cada vez que la echaba de menos, metía su mano en la caja y sacaba un beso imaginario. Así se llenaba de todo el amor que le regaló su hija.
